PLANNING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SERVICES

FUNCTIONS:

The PIMS Centre has achieved a substantial amount of progress in terms of the core function and institutional challenges and additional tasks.

CORE FUNCTIONS ACHIEVEMENTS INCLUDE:

  • Facilitation of workshops/meetings for the Centre and local municipalities
  • Facilitated transfer of skills in IDP Methodology to the Local Municipalities IDP Managers
  • Methodological Support in relation to IDP process
  • Facilitate access to information related timeframes and exchange of projects between District and Local
  • Guidance in the management of consultants
  • Building up good relationships and confidence
  • Facilitate alignment with District Municipality, Sector Departments, surrounding municipalities etc.
  • Facilitated involvement by municipalities officials in District Municipality IDP process
  • Provided inputs on the IDP municipalities

INSTITUTIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS INCLUDE:

  • PIMS Management Committee been established
  • Fully staffed and fully functionality status
  • Incorporated in the Zululand District Municipality organogram
  • Members of Local Municipalities and District Municipality Steering Committees and Representative Forums

ADDITIONAL SUCCESS:

  • Successfully completed Need Assessment study
  • Participated in Municipal IDP Support Programme conducted nationally
  • Continually participating in Provincial PIMS Forums
  • Active members of District HIV/AIS Steering Committee

Mrs. P. Hlengwa supports the municipalities on demand access and disseminates information and establishes database for the district.

Mrs N. Kubheka has a duty to ensure the smooth running of day to day events of the PIMS office.
