PLANNING SERVICES - Water Services Authority
FUNCTIONS:
The following functions are performed by the Water
Services Authority component:
Drafting and reviews of the Water Services Development Plan
- Define scope of work
- Identify and manage resources
- Monitor infrastructure development
Establish Water Service Providers to ensure efficient provision
of water services
- Investigating most effective ways to deliver water
services
- Compile implementation plan
- Monitor the establishment of Water Service Providers
Management of allocated capital and other programmes to ensure
compliance with policies and frameworks
Management of water services by:
- Developing an ensuring implementation of management systems
which includes the asset management system, customer complaints
system and water loss management system.
Bylaws
- Formulate bylaws which contain conditions for the provision of
water services.
Staff
Deputy Director: Water Services Authority

Mr. B.P Mnguni is the Manager of the
Water Services Section.
- The Section has two Technical Officers who assist the WSA
manager with his duty to all consumers in its area of jurisdiction
to progressively ensure efficient, affordable, economical and
sustainable access to water services, i.e. potable water and safe
sanitation.
- Managing Service provider during implementation of water
services.
- Attending to water and sanitation queries and spring protection
investigations.
- Assist the community members with the interpretation of
WSDP.
Technical Officer - North

Mr X. Buthelezi assisting the
Section as a Technical Officer handling projects in the North.
Technical Officer - South

Mr. S.C Ngcobo assisting the
Section as the Technical officer handling projects in the
South.
Secretary

Miss P.N Dludla is secretary for the
Section, she assists with the everyday functioning of the Water
Services Authority Section.
