                              CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
The Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi Airport is owned and managed by the Zululand District Municipality, located 1km south west of the town of Ulundi. The Ulundi region is one of the fastest growing population centres and is at the cultural and
commercial centre of the Zulu Kingdom. It is also a primary access point via the paved P 700 to the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Park.


It is the intent of Zululand District Municipality to make the Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi (PMB) Ulundi Airport a primary portal into the district as well as an economic development node for the greater community.The Airport is currently undergoing numerous civil and procedural upgrades with the intent of launching a scheduled service to and from Pietermaritzburg and beyond as of 28 March 2012.


A fully staffed and equipped rescue and fire department is on-site and is qualified to operate at category 4 level. The Airport Precinct  has  extensive  terminal  facilities,  hangar  space,  land  for  development,  parking  for  aircraft  and  automobiles,  a fuel  depot  and  a  fully  operational  radio  navigational  approach  system.  There  are  two  paved  operational  runways;
1700 x 18-metre paved main; and 800 x 16 x 12 metre crosswind.


Zululand District Municipality seeks interested parties to respond to the following:
Expressions of Interest are requested from service providers/companies interested in establishing;
•  A car rental agency at the facility

•  A restaurant/coffee shop at the facility

•  A shuttle service/tour operation for arriving passengers at Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi Airport

Proposals:  Responding parties are requested to declare their interest and supply the following information prior to the launch of  the  rehabilitation:  •  Covering  letter  •  Appropriate  licensing  •  Established  reputation  and  history  within  the  industry • Appropriate equipment and resources to manage and maintain operations • Company information • Financial capacity
•  Tax  Clearance  •  Licences  •  Company  ownership  (Preferential  Procurement  Schedules  and  affidavit  that  will  be incorporated) • Company policy with regard to personnel and community upliftment programmes • Certificate of Authority
of an Entity • Registration Certificate of an Entity • Schedule of experience • Curricula Vitae of key personnel • Schedule of proposed sub-contractors • Schedule of plant and equipment • Workman's Compensation Registration Certificate (or proof of payment of contributions in terms of the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act, No 130 of 1993).


Submission of proposals:Duly prepared Expression of Interest documents, sealed in an envelope marked with the ZDM number and the closing date, are to be deposited into the tender box at Zululand District Municipality, Lot B-400 Gagane Street, Ulundi 3838 by no later than 12:00 on the closing date, whereafter they will be opened in public. Telegraphic, telefaxed or posted Expressions of
Interest will not be accepted.
