Appointment of non-executive directors to the board of the Zululand Development Agency-Five(5) Vacancies

Zululand   District   Municipality   invites   nominations/applications from suitably   qualified   and experienced individuals to serve on the Board of Directors of Zululand Development Agency (ZDA).

Zululand Development Agency is a municipal entity established by Zululand District Municipality for the purposes of promoting economic development, facilitation of private and public investments, identification, facilitation and management of the implementation of sustainable and viable Local Economic Development (LED) projects in the District. The board will give leadership and strategic direction to the management and staff of agency.

The  Board  of  Directors  of  Zululand  Development Agency  is  expected  to  consist  of  persons  with experience in business and professional persons who have demonstrable knowledge of provincial, national and international investor and economic behaviour. Nominations/applications from esteemed individuals of high social standing with a passion for employing their knowledge and expertise for the betterment of the development of the district will also be considered.The Board of Directors will be constituted of directors with a balance range of the expertise from tourism, industrial, commercial, agricultural to property development as well as mining and retail sectors.

Persons with qualifications and experience in investment attraction and facilitation, legal matters, accounting practices, project management and strategic business planning and management are encouraged to apply. Nominations/applications must contain at least the following: A detailed CV  of  the  nominee/applicant  indicating  qualifications  and  experience,  a  motivational  letter/report indicating why the applicant/ nominee should be considered suitable for appointment on the board. A clear and certified copy of South African ID book/card of the nominee/applicant. In the case of nomination letter duly signed by the nomination letter duly signed by the nominator (attached copy of ID of the nominator) and a consent letter duly signed by the nominee.

Prospective nominees/applicants must note the following: Nominations/Applications must be posted to: The Municipal Manager, Zululand District Municipality, Private Bag x76, Ulundi, 3838 or hand delivered to B 400, Ugagane Street, Ulundi, 3838 for the attention of Mr J.H. de Klerk the closing date for nominations/applications is 28 April 2015 at 14h00.

No late, emailed or faxed nominations or applications will be considered. Should you not hear from the municipality within 30 days after the closing date please regard your application as having been unsuccessful.

All  nominees  and  applicants  shortlisted  for  appointment  on  the  board  will  be  expected  to  give consent  to  the  checking  of  their  backgrounds  and qualifications  by  a  professional  organisation retained  by  the  municipality  for  that  purpose.  Nominees/applicants  found  to  have  submitted fraudulent information will be disqualified from being appointed to the Board of Directors
of municipal entity:

1)   a person who holds office as councillor of any municipality,
2)   a person who is a member of the National Assembly or a provincial legislature
3)   a person who is a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces,
4)   a person who is an official of the parent municipality (Zululand DM) of that municipal entity,
5)   a person who was convicted of any offence and sentenced to imprisonment without the option
of a fine, and a period of five years since completion of the sentence has not lapsed,
6)   a person who has been declared by court (of law) to be of unsound mind, and lastly
7)   a person who is an unrehabilitated insolvent.

The final appointment of Board of Directors will be decided on by the Council of Zululand DM at its own discretion and will be announced by the Mayor.
